Aussie Animal Rescue

Aussie Animal Rescue is the first game I made with a group of dedicated Designers and Artest.  It is designed as a mobile game where your primary objective is to save animals in need.  During this project I was the Creative Lead, I also helped out with the programing and everywhere else I could.  I think one of the moments I am most proud about for the entire team was when we got a development build to play on an iPad for the first time.  Really made it feel like a real game.

The Game Pitch Proposal was written by myself as was the first draft of the GDD. Afterword the team help to iterate on the concept through out its development.

Once we got into the production of the game one of my main responsibilities became designing the tutorial to teach the player how the game works. We agreed that the best way to teach the player how to play the game was to hold their hand through the game loop.  I accomplished this by establishing a dialog box, and blocking all interactions other than what I want the player to interact with.

Welcoming the player to the game.

Having the player begin the loop by clicking on the map.

The tutorial takes the player through the loop, after the tutorial are allowed to play the game at their leisure.

Video of very early gameplay with the animal pooping after it ate. Ultimately cut feature.

This project helped me understand that it is ok when some of your ideas and work get cut from the game as long as something was learned along the way.
